Classical Vaastu divides any plot into a 9×9 mandala — eighty-one cells, each governed by a deity, each carrying its own responsibility. The kitchen belongs to the south-east (Agni, fire). The water tank to the north-east (Eshanya). The master bedroom to the south-west (Pitru, the ancestors).

We were about to sign on a plot that looked perfect on paper. The Bhumi Pariksha caught a slope direction we had not considered, and a power line above the north-east corner. We walked away. The plot we eventually built on has been a blessing.
